Rolling Stone: Worst President in History?

I don't tend to cross post national items too much but it made be think of the Dean-Gore SNL pardoy that mentioned this during the 04' election cycle. -EB

Atrios has an excerpt of
the article.
You can read it here also.

"By contrast, the Bush administration -- in seeking to restore what Cheney, a Nixon administration veteran, has called "the legitimate authority of the presidency" -- threatens to overturn the Framers' healthy tension in favor of presidential absolutism. Armed with legal findings by his attorney general (and personal lawyer) Alberto Gonzales, the Bush White House has declared that the president's powers as commander in chief in wartime are limitless. No previous wartime president has come close to making so grandiose a claim."

The book focuses on the "new, nationwide, reform-minded progressive movement that is both populist and patriotic at heart and that is already changing the political, media, and activism landscapes in profound and long-lasting ways. This book tells that story." More information is available at Crashing The Gate website www.crashingthegate.com....

New event: Drinking Liberally with Jerome and Markos: Tuesday, May 2nd from 6-8PM

Drinking Liberally is a progressive group that meets informally to discuss the latest in political events over a pitcher of beer. Some members are activists, some are political bloggers, and many just like a chance to talk to other people with the same political interests. DL has had libertarian and conservative members as well, and foisters an atmosphere of open discussion. Previous candidates who have attended Drinking Liberally meeting recently are Ford Bell, Amy Klobuchar, Sue Jeffers, Becky Lourey and Steve Kelley. DL belongs to no party, endorses no candidates, and really like their beer.
